Welcome to the 2022-23 school year at Robert Frost Junior High! We hope everyone is having a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. Each year, it seems that the summer flies by more quickly! We are excited for another highly successful year at Frost and cannot wait to be Invested in our partnership with our families to ensure student success. In order to assist with the transition into the 2022-2023 school year, listed below is important information to begin the year Frost Strong!
REGISTRATION FOR 2022 – 2023
Registration for the 2022-23 school year will opened on Monday, March 28 through the Infinite Campus Portal. We still have many families that have not registered or proven residency, so please login to infinite Campus to review the current information and make any necessary changes. Than you in advance to the Frost families that have already completed this process.
As a reminder, all families are required to prove that they live within District 54 boundaries every year. If we are unable to verify your residency electronically, you received a letter by U.S. mail which will list the residency documents you can provide to the school office in order to complete your registration.
You are also able to pay the $50 consumable fee for 2022-23, as well as purchase milk and sign up for the instructional device insurance through the portal. If you believe you will qualify for the Free Lunch Program in the 2022-23 school year, and therefore will receive a fee waiver, do not pay the consumable material fee at this time. Applications will be available in August for the Free Lunch Program.
Bus passes for those that qualify for free busing will be mailed to you in the beginning of August.
Should you have any questions, please contact our office at 847-357-6800 beginning on August 1.
Frost office hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm beginning on Monday, August 1. Please note that our student absence line (847-357-6802) is available 24 hours a day. If your child will be absent from school, please call no later than 7:00 am to report an absence once school begins on Monday, August 15.
Information Day will take place on Wednesday, August 10 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Frost. Student schedules will be available on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 10 or can be picked up in the Frost Cafeteria on this date. Welcome folders will also be available for pickup on Information Day. After retrieving your schedule, families will have the opportunity to walk the building and familiarize themselves with Frost!
Please enter through Door 1, located in the front of the building. The best time to arrive is typically between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. as lines may be shorter. Parents/Guardians must accompany their student to Information Day. Prior to your arrival, please check your registration/residency to ensure that it is complete and update all email addresses and phone numbers. If you have not proven residency for the 2022-23 school year, please bring in proper documentation to serve as proof of residency (lease, closing documents, in lieu of lease). Please know that if proof of residency is not current or registration is incomplete, then your child will not be able to attain their class schedule on Information Day until updated.
It is important that all students be properly enrolled with a complete registration and proven residency so they will have a smooth start to the school year. If you are unable to attend Information Day, you may retrieve the welcome folder materials during our regular office hours.
During this day, you will also have the opportunity to visit our PTA table and sign up for our PTA. We have an amazing and dedicated PTA that works diligently to support our students. PTA information will be updated frequently with information about how you can support Frost. The Frost website and our weekly community emails serve as wonderful forms of communication to receive our regular updates. Please note that all information is subject to change and email updates will be sent to the community to reflect any changes as needed.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
The 2022-23 school year will start Monday, August 15, with a special day devoted to 7th grade students. The day is designed to provide positive experiences for our students that will ensure a smooth transition to the school year. We call this Invested Day! On this day, students only need to bring the following: lunch to eat and class schedule.
STUDENT CLASS SCHEDULES
On August 10, your student’s schedule will be ready for pick-up at Information Day or visible on the Infinite Campus Portal. Please know that our priority when creating your student’s class schedule is ensuring that your student is placed in the appropriate core content subject classes (language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and PE/health). Once those classes are scheduled, every effort will be made to honor your student’s elective requests. However, due to priority scheduling placed on core content class placement, we cannot guarantee that your student will get the electives they have requested. With over 650 students in our school, the task of ensuring that all students are placed into both of their requested electives is challenging. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
If your child plans to try out for one of our athletic teams and/or participate in intramurals, per School Board Policy, current physicals are required of all students to be on file prior to try-outs and/or participation in any inter-scholastic or intramural sport. All new students entering our district must present proof of immunizations and a health examination prior to the first day of attendance. Please note that physical examinations are good for one year from the date of the exam. If you have any additional questions about your child’s physical, please contact our school nurse at 847-357-6772.
The 2022-23 school supply list can be located HERE or on the Frost Website. Remember to mark your student’s personal items with his/her name to avoid confusion if an item is misplaced.
If your child is eligible to ride a bus to and from school, then the District 54 Transportation Department will mail your child’s bus pass to your home before school begins. If your child rides the bus to and from school, please note the following procedures:
