A Message from the Principal- 12/10/18
At Frost, our simple and focused mission goals have always been High Achievement and Positive Culture. Over the past two weeks, our focus on ensuring High Achievement for our students and creating a Positive Culture at Frost were on full display. This past week, our students completed their winter MAP tests in reading and mathematics allowing the teachers and your child see the progress they have made this school year. We will use each student’s results to plan for specific and individualized instruction for your child the latter half of the school year. During our Advocacy lessons, our students and staff continue to take valuable time away from typical daily instruction to learn about being Frost Strong. Every Wednesday, our students connect with engaging social-emotional learning lessons/experiences around fairness and honesty, goal-setting, building relationships, personal emotions, culture and perspectives, empathy and bullying, and personal responsibility. We encourage you to discuss with your child their take-aways from what they learn during Advocacy. This month, our students are focusing on the importance of kindness by quantifying the number of “mini-miracles” our students and staff can give. A “mini-miracle” is any conscious act of kindness—our hope to is to spread the positivity that comes from helping others. Finally, our Interact Club has completed our annual Adopt-a-Family fundraiser to benefit Frost families-in-need this holiday season. Our Adopt-a-Family is the ultimate project of kindness! These events are powerful reminders to all of us what it means to be “Frost Strong”.

The following questions/scenarios can be completed any time. Talking with your children will reinforce the social emotional life skills needed. We hope you enjoy the valuable discussions with your children!
- How do you demonstrate Ownership by taking responsibility for your words and actions?
- How do you Balance your activities to nurture your mind, body, and emotions?
- You are at home studying for a test you want to do well on. Your friends call and say meet me at the park. You would rather stay home. How can you prioritize what is important to you over what is important to your friends?
