Fall Student-Led Conferences

We look forward to seeing you at this week’s student goal-setting conferences on Thursday, October 4, and Friday, October 5.  This week, our students will finish setting their High Achievement and Positive Culture goals for the school year.  We are proud of our students for taking the time to commit themselves to setting their goals and then sharing them with you on October 4 and 5.  Please note that Frost runs a unique schedule for our student goal-setting conferences.  Our format is intended to encourage students to demonstrate personal ownership of their academic performance and social emotional development.  Please read below for information important for you to follow for your child’s student goal-setting conference:

  • Seventh grade student goal-setting conferences will be held in the Gymnasium on Thursday, October 4 from 12:00-4:00 pm and 5:30-8:30 pm and on Friday, October 5 from 7:30-9:30 am.  You are welcome to attend anytime during these times.  Different from elementary school, there are no scheduled times.  This allows families to attend conferences during a time that works for your schedule.  Please follow these steps to conduct your child’s student goal-setting conferences:
    1. Prior to your child’s student goal-setting conferences, please ensure they bring their Chromebook to conferences.  They will be using their Chromebook to share their fall MAP scores, personal academic and cultural goals, work samples from all classes, and 1st trimester mid-term grades on their student portal.
    2. When you arrive for your child’s student goal-setting conferences, please proceed to the gymnasium to find a seat at a table.
    3. After taking a seat, your child will then begin their student goal-setting conference serving as the facilitator.
    4. Following your child’s student goal-setting conference, the teachers will be available to conduct individual conferences related to your child’s progress in a specific subject area.  During the individual conference portion of the event, we ask that you please limit your individual conference to five minutes out of respect for other parents.  The seventh grade teachers will be located in the following areas:
      • Language arts, social studies, science, acceleration, EL, and special services teachers will be seated in the gymnasium at tables.
      • PE teachers will be seated in the main hallway at tables.
